Slugs
Today I came across
A cornucopia
Of slugs on the path.
Slimy and fat,
Yellow and grey,
This bevy of slugs
Slid away
With malicious intent
To the next banquet.

This made me smile, Val. It reminds me of the Pacific Northwest in the United States where the slugs are truly enormous. I can fully imagine
This bevy of slugs
sliding away
To the next banquet.
It is in nature that interests slimes into sites that lodge in the mind and bring us alive. You are such a good poet.

Many thanks Thomas, for reading and for your comment.
We have been invaded by giant Spanish slugs this year. They arrive on imported salad leaves and are creating a few problems but, as you say, they bring us alive. At the moment the ground is frozen. I guess they will be back.
